Dr Aileen Shuey is a consultant psychiatrist with a current appointment at Neurobehaviour clinic at Austin Health and previously the lead consultant to the Community Brain Disorders Assessment and Treatment Service (CBDATS) at the Royal Talbot Hospital at Austin Health. She graduated with Bachelor of Medicine / Bachelor of Surgery from the University of Tasmania in 2002, prior to obtaining a Master of Psychological Medicine from Monash University in 2010. Her previous career was in Nursing, with a Diploma of Nursing (University of Sydney), and Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) from Southern Cross University.
Aileen consults over a wide range of adult psychiatry, including depressive, anxiety, and psychotic disorders. She has specific interests in acquired brain injury, neuropsychiatry, somatoform and functional neurological disorders, and perinatal psychiatry. She also assesses and treats adult patients with Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
She is not a psychotherapist, but rather her psychiatric practice has a biopsychosocial focus in helping patients to recover from their mental health issues and maintain remission of their symptoms where possible.
